Guitar Hero 3 Song List – It’s Awesome!
I first heard about Guitar Hero whilst driving in the car with our two grandchildren, aged eight and five years. Our hitherto quiet trip had suddenly been livened up with a raucous rendition of the opening riff from ‘Smoke on the Water’. How on earth would kids that age know ‘Smoke on the Water?” Easy it seems - it was their favourite song from PS2 Guitar Hero.
And so I discovered Guitar Hero, one of the most addictive and innovative music-related video games ever made. Guitar Hero 2 improved various aspects of the original Guitar Hero, and the recently introduced Guitar Hero III further improves the features from Guitar Hero 2.
The latest version is now available for the PlayStation 2, Nintendo Wii, PC, Mac, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The Guitar Hero 3 song list is nothing short of amazing with a myriad of songs from bands including:
- Nine Inch Nails
- Metallica
- Smashing Pumpkins
- Pearl Jam
- Slash
- Rolling Stones
- Beastie Boys
There are 71 songs included in the game including rock music that is as old as thirty or forty years. Many parents (and grandparents for that matter) are delighted to hear their offspring singing and humming around the house to the old classic rock songs, so familiar from their youth. It’s a shame the Guitar Hero 3 song list features no songs from AC/DC or Led Zeppelin, but hopefully this might be remedied in the next version.
Guitar Hero III is available in both a wireless version as well as a wired version. The wireless version allows more freedom for moving around, but you can now buy a ten foot cable for the wired version which leaves more room to dance, jump and rock with the guitar.
The gameplay is exactly what any avid Guitar Hero might expect. The career mode has been altered to accommodate feedback from Guitar Hero aficionados. Gamers can play through the entire game in either single or cooperative player mode, with both playing different instruments (ala Guitar Hero 2). For example, one player plays the lead guitar player and the other player controls the bass. For those wanting to hear all the songs the game has to offer, then cooperative play is mandatory.
The graphics are not overly impressive, but this is only a minor issue. It is the audio which definitely shines, blasting out high quality music and sound which feels exactly like playing in a band. Guitar Hero III has certainly taken this rocking game experience to another level and is a gamer’s next best option to being part of a real band.
Overall, Guitar Hero III is video game that is addictive and exciting, inspiring anyone to keep rocking on. The Guitar Hero 3 song list is outstanding, and the game can be enjoyed by the whole family.
