The Guitar Speed Learning System
Feb 9th, 2008 by guitarnews
The Speed Learning System is an all-embracing guitar learning program which is pretty much all of Elmore Music’s courses combined into one bundle . Instant access to Elmore Music’s 5 courses is the prime focus, with the addition of several extra free bonuses which combined make this package extremely good value.
Program Overview
The main Elmore Music components (which can each be purchased separately) are as follows:
Guitar Tips – The flagship online private membership site, showing users how to play the guitar in 30 days online. The course contains 70 jam packed guitar lessons effectively using video, audio and written text to teach each lesson. A one-time fee of $27 gets you a lifetime membership to this course, making it extremely good value for money.
Guitar Songs – Learn to play 50 Legendary songs on the guitar using Elmore music’s new step-by-step site. Members of Guitar Songs get access to the hottest songs, step-by-step audio tracks, tabs, and video clips.
Guitar Theory – Features lessons covering many aspects of music theory. Concepts such as beats, rests, signatures, and the dynamics of tempo are all covered. Users of this course will gain a detailed grasp of music theory and how it all works together.
Guitar Leads – This course was created for those wanting to take their playing to the next level. Combined techniques such as whammy bar bends, harmonics, finger tapping and generally finger picking your way around your guitar fretboard are all included. Definitely a course for the serious shredder wanting to play lead guitar.
Guitar Backing Tracks – This program lets you jam along with your own personal band! Featuring catchy drum beats, cool bass riffs and hundreds of synth tracks (including piano, violin and more), it’s like having your very own band at your disposal! Jamming along to the different drum beats is and excellent way of improving strumming skills.
The additional bonus items which accompany the Speed Learning System include the following.
* Insider Action Plan For Writing Your Own Songs
* 5 Catchy Jam Tracks
* Easy Guitar Chord Dictionary
* Scale Tool Generation Software
* 7 Advanced Leads To Apply To Your Playing
* Your Own Live Guitar Tutor Via E-mail (for one year)
Also included is a free guitar effects software package for recording and playing guitar on your PC.
The current pricing of $197 is equivalent to the cost of the four main programs bought seperately. This means you would basically get the guitar theory and additional bonuses for free.
What we liked
When you first visit the site you’ll be offered some free guitar lessons. These are very good and allow students to get a feel for the tuition quality in the Speed Learning System.
The course format is logical and well laid out. With such a large amount of content , it was also good to see a 30 day guide in the course for keeping right on track.
The quality of the songs that are broken down is very good, with some Metallica and Santana tracks being particularly well produced.
One quite unique feature is “dual-platform” aspect of the course, meaning it works on both a PC and a MAC. This is not always the case with many other guitar courses on the market.
The Downside
The negatives are really only nitpicking. For example some of the audio players didn’t have a stop button, sometimes causing two tracks to play at the same time.
For those working directly online, some of the pages are a little slow to load even with Broadband. This can be avoided by downloading the entire course to your PC – a big job to download, but could be worth it in the long run.
Overall this is a very good course for beginner and intermediate guitarists and we would highly recommend the course. It’s not the cheapest one on the market by any means but the sheer number of lessons and additional resources more than justifies the price tag.
The course particularly suits guitarists wanting to improve their lead and rhythm guitar skills, understand guitar theory better, and increase their range of guitar styles. And lastly, for those wanting to play with a band, you wouldn’t go past the Speed Learning System.
